How to Propose a New Rotary Member

Greetings Rotarians,

Rotarians are encouraged to bring a new member into the Rotary world at least once in their Rotary career . As you know, the process takes several weeks: you submit your proposal to the club Secretary (that’s me until July 1st and then Carol Houde); the Board reviews the new member proposal and approves it for posting; all proposals are posted before the club for seven (7) days which is two meetings (any objection must be business and ethical reasons must be made through the Secretary in writing); and then we schedule and orientation and induction with the proposed member.

There is still time to bring in additional new members this year (although they will be billed starting July 1 since they would come in toward the end of June) but it will have to be done quickly. Proposal forms are available at our meetings as well as online through www.rotary.org .

A good member is anyone in a business or profession who exemplifies the ideals of Rotary and Service Above Self that lives or works and has a specific interest in our Springfield community.

Possible open classifications: Motel / Hotel Administration, Dentist, Orthodontist, Physician, Real Estate (Residential or Commercial), Property Management, Tire Dealer, Office Equipment Sales/Service, Printers / Copy Services, Electrical Contractor, Plumbing Contractor, Trucking / Delivery Service, Florist, Internet Service Provider, Computer Sales – the list is endless.

This is also the time to seek those first members of the new Rotary year!! Asking them to lunch is great way to share Rotary with friends and business associates.
