ROTARY SHARES!

President’s Message

June 25, 2008

Thanks for Everything

This will be my last president’s column in our Springfield Rotary Club newsletter.  I have missed just one edition, I believe, and I thank Barry for keeping me on my toes with this task.

Again, thank you all for making this a year during which “Rotary Shares” was truly alive in our Club.  Thank you all also for helping the Club leadership in all their work, and in continuing to enhance our reputation as one of the friendliest Club in District 5110.  (And, the best Singing Club by far!)

I will not spend space on trying to list all our accomplishments as a Club this year.  Rather, here are a handful of highlights I will take away as your soon to be Past President.

  • A great signature project that will do much to say “Rotary is here” in our community for years to come.
  • Our continued support of Springfield youth and the K-12 system through the Gift of Literacy, the dictionary project, our great exchange student - Grith - and many other projects.
  • Our fellowship, fundraising, and membership events and programs - Springfield Rotarians in action throughout the year!
  • Our new members - energetic and ready to make a contribution.  Thank you for joining the cause.
  • Our programs throughout the year, and the great reception they found at our Club.
  • Two standout efforts - the Duck Race (thank you again Jeff Alden) and the Springfield Rotary Auction (thanks again, Bruce).
An enhanced website, newsletter, directory, and public relations effort - all so important to our Club.  It has been great to see and hear about Rotary on TV and radio.
