ROTARY SHARES!

President’s Message

March 19, 2008

Springfield Rotary Wine Auction a Smashing Success!

Though the final numbers for our recent event have not been completely tabulated, it appears that many of the Auction Committee’s financial goals will be reached and, in some cases, exceeded by the good work of the Club, our volunteers and guests that evening.

There are a lot of folks to thank!

I will let Bruce Smolnisky do most of the thanking on March 26 as he is going to run the Club meeting that day.  However, at this early juncture, let me extend my thanks and congratulations to Bruce, the committee and the Club on a classy, organized and fun event.

We are getting better at this!

A few specific observations.............

Thank you Bill Grile, for Claude’s Wallet.  A really cool idea!  And, thank you Claude for being Claude and for your decades of service to the Club and to Springfield.

Mark, your winning of the wine is your thanks for stepping up and calling our wine selections at this year’s event.  No, it was a fair drawing I’m sure!  Good job, Mark!

I believe we had the best Silent Auction ever.  The tables looked great - a very effective presentation of the items.

The Miracle of Rotary

(cont’d from page 2)

Again, the Italian Buffet was great - at least to my unsophisticated palate - and the VRI staff seemed really helpful and responsive.  The PowerPoint was good; the Live Auction exciting; our auctioneer spirited; our tables filled with great guests and Rotarians.  Lots of people worked hard to make it all happen - thank you all.

I’m sure we will have a full report from Incoming President, Bruce next week.  In the meantime, thank you all, and be proud of your Club and fellow members - a great event from opening to closing bell!
